Time to Change Gears For Football Staff

Comments from Auburn's head football coach are featured.

Auburn, Ala.--After a strong final push to wrap up what he calls potentially his best signee class as head coach of the Auburn Tigers, Tommy Tuberville says he told his coaching staff to take a couple of days off at a meeting on Thursday.

Tuberville noted he likes the effort his assistants made lining up what is ranked as the nation's ninth best signee class by Scout.com.

He says the group worked well together, especially during the hectic final weeks leading up to national signing day on Wednesday.

"You can never say it is a great day on signing day because you really won't know that until several years from now, but I will say it was a good day," says.

"We filled out what we needed at each position so that was good to see," he adds.

The coach says that staff members and their families will get together on Sunday and watch the Super Bowl and after that the focus will be on winter workouts for the players and preparing for the start of spring practices on Feb. 28th.

Tuberville says he wants to see the Tigers come out of their winter workouts ready to a very productive spring.

"The early morning workouts are going and we had our second one today," he says. "We have a lot of good attitudes and we have some that are going to have to change a little, which is something we always have with some of the new guys."
