Spring Football Previews Start Tuesday

Auburn, Ala.--After finishing 7-1 in the conference and 9-3 overall, Tommy Tuberville's Tigers won't have to wait long to get back on the football field in preparation for the 2006 season.

The Tigers are scheduled to open spring drills on Feb. 28th and the annual A-Day spring football game is set for March 18th at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The Tigers, who finished 14th in both major polls, have to replace starting tackles (Marcus McNeill and Troy Reddick) on offense and three key senior wide receivers (Ben Obomanu, Anthony Mix, Devin Aromashodu) along with starting tight end Cooper Wallace and starting fullback Jake Slaughter.

Brandon Cox will be a junior this fall and he will be looking to win the quarterback starting spot for a second season.

On defense, the Tigers will miss two senior starters at linebacker, Travis Williams and Antarrious Williams, along with starting noseguard Tommy Jackson and tackle Wayne Dickens.

Beginning Tuesday, check out AUTigers.com for spring training previews and later throughout spring training for practice reports and features on the 2006 Auburn Tigers as they prepare for the Sept. 2nd opener as Washington State makes its first visit to Jordan-Hare Stadium.
