Originally scheduled to be played at 4 p.m., Saturday's game against Florida State had to be changed because of temperatures expected in the low 40s for the high. There is also a chance of snow on Saturday, making the day a tough one for baseball.
Making their first trip to Auburn since 1975, the Florida State Seminoles come in after a weekend sweep of Charleston Southern in Tallahassee. Last season FSU defeated Auburn twice in Tallahassee to win the regional over the Tigers and advance to a Super Regional.
"We are excited that we are bringing a great team like Florida State in here," Coach Tommy Slater said. "I think it is very important in scheduling that you play good people as often as possible. We built our schedule as such that the marquee match-ups with Florida State and Arizona State jump out at you, but we don't try to put anybody on our schedule that is soft.
"We try to put everyone on our schedule that has the capability of coming in here and winning a game, and that is how we are going to prepare our young club to be the best they can be throughout the season."
Since Florida State's trip to Auburn over 30 years ago the Tigers have made six trips to FSU's campus for regionals, winning twice in 1976 and 1997 to move on to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
Friday's game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. with Sunday's start at one o'clock.
