Leverette's Fast Friend Also Interested In AU

This 2007 football prospect from Mississippi has interest in Auburn.

Columbia, Miss.--Two weeks before the 2005 high school football season began Columbia High School received an unexpected gift in WR/DB Justin Cooley.

Cooley relocated to Columbia from Hattiesburg, Miss., where he starred on the Hattiesburg High Tiger football team.

Justin had a standout junior campaign and is poised for a breakout year as a senior. He has already begun raising a few eyebrows among SEC football recruiters.

"I am getting letters from LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Auburn," said the 5-11, 175-pounder.

Justin also found out earlier this week that he has been invited to the Mississippi State Junior Day.

Justin plays both ways for the Wildcats and is equally productive on both sides of the ball, but where will he play in college?

"I will probably play corner," he said. "I love playing defense. There's nothing I like more than making a pick or making a big tackle, but I still love playing receiver too."

Cooley's best attribute may be his speed. He is currently a star on the Wildcat track team and recently turned in times of 4.43 and 4.45 in the 40-yard dash.

Called a hard worker by CHS Head Coach Marcus Wood, Cooley has a 235-pound bench press, 315-pound deadlift and 395-pound squat to his credit.

Cooley said his early favorites are LSU and Auburn, but gave Auburn the nod as the early leader. Why Auburn?

"My best friend Hendrick Leverette is going to play there and I have always liked their program," he said.

Justin found earlier this week that he has been invited to the Mississippi State Junior Day.

We will check back in on Justin and see how things are progressing soon, so keep it tuned to Scout.com for the latest updates on this exciting player's recruitment.
