Clay-Chalkville wide receiver Sam Edwards is receiving interest from several programs, and he has a list of six schools as favorites. His spring schedule is booked with several visits for Junior Day.
"Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Louisville and Ole Miss are all showing interest in me right now," said Sam Edwards from Pinson, (Ala.). "My favorites are Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Florida, LSU and Georgia. I don't have an overall favorite. Everyone is pretty much equal."
Edwards talks about his favorites.
Alabama: "They have good coaches, good academics and nice facilities."
Auburn: "Pretty much the same as Alabama. I have visited down there a lot. It feels like home."
Florida: "They are aggressive, and they like to throw the ball."
Florida State: "Good academics, they are a passing team, and they have good coaches."
Georgia: "That is where I am from. I was born in Columbus, but I moved when I was three."
LSU: "They have good coaches and good academics."
Edwards will travel out-of-state for his first Junior Day and return for visits to the in-state schools.
"I am going to Ole Miss for their Junior Day this weekend," he said. "Next weekend I will go to Alabama (4-4), and on March 11, I am going to Auburn."
The 6-2, 175-pound receiver hauled in 43 receptions for 624 yards and six touchdowns during his junior season. He hopes to improve those numbers in 2006 as he stated, "Before my senior season I want to get bigger and improve my speed."
When asked of his strengths Edwards replied, "I would say my biggest strengths are running routes and blocking."
During the recruiting process Edwards will visit several schools, attend summer camps and look for the best fit. He knows what will detemine his college destination.
"I am going to base my decision on academics and the coaching staff at the school," he said.
Edwards will participate in the Scout.com All-American combine in Tuscaloosa April 29.
