Tigers Face South Carolina in SEC Hoops

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn will go into the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament on Thursday as the 10th seed and will face South Carolina. The two teams have never met in a postseason game.

Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CST at Alltel Arena in North Little Rock, Ark. The game will be televised regionally by Fox Sports South.

Auburn slipped to 13-14 overall and 4-10 in the conference with a road loss to Georgia on Sunday.

South Carolina is 7-7 in the league, including a 58-46 victory over the Tigers in Auburn. Overall, the Gamecocks are 17-10 this season after dropping their regular season finale at Vandy, 88-71.

Freshman guard DeWanna Bonner leads the Tigers in scoring a 12.5 points per game and in rebounding at 6.6. Senior guard Nitasha Brown is scoring 11.1 per contest for Coach Nell Fortner's Tigers.

The winner of Thursday's game advances to a 2:30 p.m. Friday contest against No. 2 seed Tennessee, which earned a first round bye with an 11-3 SEC mark. UT is 25-4 overall. The Lady Vols dropped their final regular season game of the season, losing 95-93 at Florida.

LSU is the No. 1 seed for the event. The other teams receiving first round byes include No. 3 seed Georgia and No. 4 Kentucky, the league's surprise team this season. AU's only victory over one of the seeded teams this year was at Kentucky.
