"I have an offer from Auburn," McDermott said. "They offered me about two weeks ago. I was really, really happy to get the first offer and it's amazing coming from a school like Auburn."
In addition to the Tigers, four other schools currently sit at the top of his list for the Junior at Palm Beach Central High.
What stands out about those programs?
Auburn: "They're a really good football team and the school is pretty large."
Duke: "It's just a fantastic school. I went up there for junior day and it's very pretty. They want to build their program to the point they are competing for ACC championships."
Northwestern: "I'm going there this weekend. It's close to the big city and I really like that. They had a good season and they play in the Big 10. They're pretty high up there on my list."
Wake Forest: "They're another great school. I visited there when I went to see Duke and they have a program that's been going good for a while now."
Florida: "I live in Florida and I've always seen them. They play in the SEC, which is a fantastic conference. Urban Meyer looks like he's going to do big things there."
Tyler has locked it down in the classroom as well as on the field and he projects as a full academic qualifier.
"I have a 3.8 GPA and an 1180 SAT. I just got my ACT back and I made a 28 composite. My parents, ever since I was little, always stressed the classroom and also when I get that 'A' and no one else has it, it's a great feeling and I keep wanting to do more and more to feel like I'm the best in the class."
