Friday Football Practice Notes

News and notes from Auburn's ninth spring football practice are featured.

*Senior wide receiver Courtney Taylor had a good day catching the football.

*Another senior, Lee Guess, continues to earn praise from wide receiver coach Greg Knox for how he is catching the ball and running routes.

*Defensive coordinator and secondary coach Will Muschamp was less than pleased with the pass coverage in a drill matching the receivers vs. the defensive backs. For most of the spring, the secondary has outperformed the offense.

*Redshirt freshman tight end Tommy Trott continues to show good hands every day in practice.

*Senior cornerback Montae Pitts is covering receivers better than in previous spring trainings.

*Running back Carl Stewart injured his rib lifting weights and did not practice on Friday. He is listed as questionable for Saturday's scrimmage.

*Tight end Gabe McKenzie participated in the whole practice on Friday and is scheduled to scrimmage on Saturday.

*Auburn is expecting close to 200 high school players, suspects and some prospects, to check out the scrimmage. Last week there were more than 100 there for last Saturday's scrimmage.

*Junior safety Corey Hart, who played in the high school all-star game in December, watched practice on Friday along with his Loachapoka High teammate, Franchez Pitts, another junior safety. Pitts is the cousin of Auburn senior cornerback Montae Pitts.
