DB Prospect Comments On Visit to Auburn

This in-state prospect checked out the Tigers over the weekend.

Mobile, Ala.--B.C. Rain High School cornerback Ryan Williams is one of the top defensive backs in the South for the class of 2007. Williams took an unofficial visit to Auburn on Saturday to tour the campus and see a spring training scrimmage.

"I went to Auburn this weekend and it was alright," Williams says. "I expected a little bit more, but I was satisfied.

"The coaches gave me a lot of attention. Coach (Tommy) Tuberville said they wanted me. I liked their practice. There was a lot of intensity out there."

Williams joined teammate Rodney Hudson on the trip to Auburn, and he toured the facilities on his unofficial visit.

"I thought the facilities were nice," he says. "I liked the weight room a lot. On a scale from 1-10, I would give the facilities an 8.5 or 9."

Williams watched the defensive backs at the scrimmage, and he thinks seeing the field early is a possibility.

"I thought the practice was good," he says. "I think if I went to Auburn I would have a chance to play early. I liked how they rotated the defensive backs in and out. I think I would definitely have a chance to play early if I went there."

The 5-11, 185-pound prospect likes the in-state school, and he expects a scholarship offer from the Tigers.

"Coach (James) Willis told me to keep my grades up," Williams says. "He told me to keep getting stronger. He said they were going to offer me this spring. He said his goal was to get me, Rodney and Elliott (McGaskin) to sign with Auburn."

Williams plans to travel to Florida or Louisville this weekend.

He will participate in the Scout.com All-American Combine in Tuscaloosa April 29 along with teammates Hudson and McGaskin.
