Hoops Prospect Plans to Visit Tigers

A report on an Auburn basketball recruit is featured.

Jacksonville, Fla.--Jason Bennett, a primary recruiting target for Coach Jeff Lebo's Auburn Tigers, is scheduled to take an official visit to Auburn University on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Bennett's father told Inside the Auburn Tigers that his son has narrowed his choice to three colleges--Auburn, Alabama and Michigan.

Bennett, a 7-2, 255-pounder, is a high school senior who could be an immediate impact player at Auburn because the Tigers are looking for a true center.

He is ranked as the No. 8 center prospect in the nation by Scout.com. He helped Arlington Country Day post a 27-3 record on the way to the Class 2A state title. The Apaches put on a dominating performance in the state title game, defeating Benjamin High of North Palm Beach by a 73-37 score.

Bennett averaged 13 points, 13 rebounds and nearly 10 blocked shots per game as a senior.

The Tigers signed two players in the early period--6-6 forward Lucas Hargrove from Richland Northeast High in Columbia, S.C., and 6-4 guard Kelvin Lewis from North Crowley High in Fort Worth, Tex.
