6-4, 220 pound tight end prospect Bailey Woods traveled to Clemson to watch the Tigers during spring practice. "I enjoyed it very much," Bailey told CUTigers.com of his visit. "I liked meeting with my new position coach. I liked seeing what the practices are like."
The Walton High standout picked up an offer from the Tigers after practice. "Coach Bowden was the one that offered. He came up right after practice and we talked. That is when he offered. He told me that he would like for Clemson to be one of his options," he said.
Coach Napier also spent time explaining how the Tigers extensively use their tight end on game day. "Yeah we talked a lot about the position. He told me what kind of guys he's looking for at that position. He told me what kind of work it takes. I think I would like to play in that kind of offense," Woods said.
"He said they are looking for guys that are intelligent enough to work with the offensive system they are running. He said the tight end has to know a lot about the offense in general. He said it requires a lot of thinking because you play so many different formations."
Entering the last part of his junior year, the talented tight end is building an impressive offer list. "I now have offers from Clemson, Auburn, Marshall, Georgia Tech, Duke, North Carolina and Mississippi State," Woods said.
When asked about his current favorites, Woods responded, "My top three are Auburn, Clemson and Duke. I am going to commit sometime before the season. I'm not sure when. I am trying to make a decision before spring practice. I am not sure if I will be ready. Practice starts in May."
What does he like most about his top schools?
Auburn: "Auburn is a great all around football program. I am going to visit Auburn this weekend. I am looking forward to the visit."
Duke: "Duke has a great athletic program."
Clemson: "Clemson has my favorite coaches. Coach Napier is a great guy. Coach West and coach Bowden are great also. I am going to try to get back to Clemson for the spring game. If I'm not busy with track I will be there."
