Big OL Prospect Interested in Auburn

This three-sport athlete discusses football recruiting.

Winter Park, Fla.--Billy Offutt was born in Missouri and spent the first ten years of his life there. Now attending Lake Howell High School, Offutt is quickly emerging as one of the top O-Line prospects in Central Florida.

The talented big man is coming off a solid junior season, which ended in All-Area honors.

"I did pretty good last year," Offutt said. "I started seven games my sophomore year and had the chance to play with mostly seniors. I learned a lot from them. So last year I was able to take on more of a leadership role. I'm ready for my senior year now."

Offutt, 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds, also wrestles and plays on his school's water polo team. Recently, however, he's been hitting the weights. He took a break on Sunday to attend the All-American Combine in Jacksonville. He is hoping it will help open the eyes of some college coaches.

"I don't have any offers yet but I'm getting a lot of interest," he said. "Charlie Strong from Florida sends me handwritten mail. My top three would be Florida, Auburn, and Iowa. Those are the main ones right now."

Offutt plans on attending a summer camp at Iowa later in the year. He's unsure about his other plans.

"I have family in Missouri still so I'll go up there and do camps at Iowa and maybe Kansas State," he said.
