Mobile DB Gets Three More Offers

Phelon Jones is receiving offers from around the country.

Mobile, Ala.--McGill-Toolin defensive back Phelon Jones received scholarship offers last week from three big-time programs.

"I received offers from N.C. State, Oklahoma and Miami last week," Jones says. "I am now up to 12 or 13 offers.

"I was real excited to receive those offers," he adds. "They are all good programs and I will check them out. Everything has been really exciting for me."

Alabama, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Michigan, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Ohio State and Virginia Tech have all extended scholarship offers as well.

Jones joined teammate Sidell Corley as the two visited Mississippi State over the weekend. Phelon Jones' older brother, Carvel Jones, is a redshirt freshman linebacker for the Bulldogs.

"The visit to Starkville went very good," Jones notes. "I met the coaches. They seemed really nice.

"I think Mississippi State is a nice program. Their facilities are one of the best I have seen so far. The team is starting to look really good as well."

With all of the early offers from schools in the SEC, ACC, Big XII, Big 10 and Big East, the talented DB isn't leaning toward any school in particular yet.

"I don't have any favorites right now," Jones says. "I am going to check out all the schools and try to decide the best place for me.

"After our spring game in May I'll sit down and try to figure out the best fit for me," he adds. "I will narrow down my list then start visiting the schools I really like. Right now everyone is equal."
