Alabama Lineman Gets Early LSU Offer

A recruiting report is featured on a prospect from the Birmingham area.

Mountain Brook, Ala.--Offensive lineman William Vlachos received his first scholarship offer Monday afternoon and he was happy to see the SEC school extend an offer.

"I was really shocked and surprised," the Mountain Brook High junior said. "The offer made me real excited. I am going down to Baton Rouge this weekend.

"I don't really know too much about LSU," he said. "I have heard a lot of great things about them. I attended the Alabama-LSU game last year when LSU won in overtime. I know they have a lot of tradition."

The 6-2, 300-pound center prospect has stayed busy, and he talks about his recent visits to Auburn and Tennessee.

"I went to Auburn's A-Day game last week, and there were over 400 prospects there," Vlachos said. "I talked to coach (Terry) Price and coach (Tommy) Tuberville. Coach Price told me he will come to watch me this spring. Coach Tuberville was very nice. He said to keep up my grades.

"The actual game was very interesting. The offense looked good. Tommy Trott had a long touchdown. The game and the overall visit was fun. Auburn is still one of my top schools."

The trip to Knoxville was a good visit as well. "I went up there a few weeks ago for Junior Day," Vlachos said. "It went real good. I talked to the offensive line coach (Greg Adkins). They are recruiting me as a center as well.

"I liked the facilities, the strength program and the off-season work-out program. I really like Tennessee a lot."

Now that Vlachos has the first scholarship offer, it's only a matter of time before he begins to hear from more schools wanting to offer as well.

"I feel like West Virginia is really close to offering me," he said. "Other than that I think Alabama and Auburn are recruiting me about the same.

"My current favorites are LSU, Alabama, Auburn, West Virginia and Tennessee. LSU is my overall favorite since they have offered me."
