AU In Top Five For Defensive End Prospect

A football recruiting report on a 2007 prospect is featured.

Harvest, Ala.--Sparkman High defensive end Albert Rocker is hearing from numerous schools across the country. He is preparing for the All-American Combine in Tuscaloosa, and he lists five schools with strong interest.

"My top five are Auburn, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State and Miami," Rocker said. "All those schools have been showing interest in me. That list isn't in any order. They are all equal right now."

Rocker is busy during the off-season, and he is waiting word from college coaches as they receive his highlight tape.

"I have sent out over 40 highlight tapes in the past few weeks," he said. "I am waiting on responses. I know Alabama, Auburn and Penn State all plan to visit during spring training."

When asked the basis for his college decision Rocker replied, "Education and the program's prestige are the two biggest factors for me. Location and playing time don't really matter to me."

Rocker recorded 86 tackles, 13 sacks, nine pass break-ups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries during his junior campaign.

He notes that he knows he must continue to improve his game before his senior season. "I want to get my speed down," Rocker said. "My last 40 [yard dash] was a 4.60, and I would like to get down to a 4.5. I want to get better at coming off the ball as well."
