Williams Long Way From a College Pick

Marshall "Scottie" Williams is one of several talented players at Parkview High School in Lilburn, Ga.

Lilburn, Ga.--Linebacker prospect Marshall Williams of Parkview High Schoolwas in attendance at the Scout.com combine in Atlanta, but was unable to compete because of a hamstring he pulled running track.

Williams was a standout at the Scout.com combine at Competitive Edge Sports in Duluth, Ga., earlier this year and has a pair of offers from the SEC and ACC.

"Vandy and North Carolina have offered," Williams says. "Right now I'm hearing a lot from Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Louisville, North Carolina, Baylor and Alabama off the top of my head. I'm hearing from Auburn--they send me a lot of stuff. Every now and then I hear something from Georgia."

With National Signing Day still a long ways away Williams says he is nowhere near ready to give a top five, but a pair of schools may have an edge him early on.

"Right now I'm really open to everybody," he notes. "I don't have any favorites, but from what I've seen I'd probably have to say Alabama and Vandy.

"I just like Alabama's style of play and their whole way of tradition around there," Williams adds. "And the atmosphere. I really don't have any favorites yet, but this is just from what I've seen. Vandy's a real good academic school and I might have the chance to play early there."

At 6-2 1/2 and 205 pounds with a frame to potentially add a lot of weight before he gets to college, Williams is a physically impressive looking athlete in person and also excels in track at Parkview.

"I run the 200, 4x100 and the 400," the weakside linebacker says. "The last time I ran the 200 was a 21.8"
