Georgia DB Adds Two Offers

Speedy defensive back Addison Williams added two offers from the Southeastern Conference on Tuesday.

Atlanta, Ga.--Defensive back Addison Williams hasn't had a chance to spend much time worrying about his football future because of running track this spring for Westlake High but that hasn't kept schools from taking a look at the speedster now that the evaluation period has started.

Tuesday that paid big dividends for Williams as two schools came to Westlake to watch film of Williams and left with a favorable impression of him as a football player. Despite not participating in spring football practice until next week because of obligations on the track team, Williams says that two schools extended offers after a short visit with Westlake coaches.

"I got offers from South Carolina and Mississippi State," Williams tells Inside The Auburn Tigers. "I'm not practicing right now because of track, but they were here in the coaches offices Tuesday morning. I had been in the coaches offices and saw them in there so I kind of backed out and didn't go in. They called me in there and said both schools were offering me and that a formal offer would come in the mail."

Williams was a standout at the Combine in San Antonio last winter.

This spring Williams has put up some terrific times on the track as he tries to improve his speed before taking the summer camp circuit beginning in June. He has personal best times of 10.7 in the 100 meters and 21.6 in the 200. Both are very good times and show the explosion needed to excel at cornerback on the next level.

Saying he plans to camp at several SEC and ACC schools this summer for one-day camps, Williams says that at the moment he's interested in six schools. With his first two offers coming on Tuesday it's no surprise that both the Gamecocks and Bulldogs have moved into solid contention to land Williams next February.

"I was at South Carolina for the Alabama game last year," Williams says. "I like the intensity that the crowd shows. I'm pretty close to a guy I played high school ball with, Carlos Thomas, he's there. I'm not as familiar with Mississippi State. I know they are rebuilding the program and I'll have a chance to play if I go there.

"Right now I'm interested in Florida, Auburn, Clemson and Notre Dame to name a few more," he adds. "The last time I talked with Auburn was a while back, but I have received a couple of text messages from Coach (Terry) Price in the last few weeks."
