"I liked the combine a lot," said Jeffrey Daniels from Brantley, (Ala.). "I did a lot of stuff that I have never done before like the broad jump and the shuttle run.
"I tried to do the very best I could. I know what I will have to work on now."
Daniels runs the 40-yard dash at Saturday's combine in Tuscaloosa.
Daniels recorded a 4.87 forty-yard-dash time standing 6-1, 230-pounds. He recorded 158 tackles as a junior, and he held his own guarding the much quicker running backs in the one-on-one competition.
"I thought I did all right going up against the backs," he said. "I am mainly a run- stopper. I average around 14 tackles a game. I thought I had speed to keep up with those guys running routes, and I did."
"The guy I was most impressed with was the big tight end from Mobile [Nick Fairley]. He was a real nice guy. I really liked his style. He was very aggressive."
Daniels eagerly awaits that first scholarship offer, and after the solid combine performance look for that to change soon.
"I don't know if I am close to any offers. I am going to try to go to as many camps as possible this summer. I am definitely going to Alabama and Auburn. I will probably go to Ole Miss and UAB as well. I will go anywhere that is close."
The big, athletic linebacker lists three schools as his favorites and stated, "I like Auburn, Alabama and Miami."
Alabama: "Everyone in my family is an Alabama fan. I don't really have a favorite team, but I like Alabama a lot. They always have a great defense."
Auburn: "They have a new system with the new linebackers coach [James Willis]. I feel like there is a good chance for me to play early if I went there. I like their facilities as well."
Miami: "I have liked them for a long time. They have a fast, hard-hitting defense. They fly to the ball."
