SEC Coaches Honor Two Tigers

Birmingham, Ala.--Auburn's leading hitter for the 2006 season, freshman Mike Bianucci, was named a first team All-SEC selection by the league's coaches.

Bianucci, who was selected as the team's designated hitter, was also chosen for the All-SEC Freshman Team along with Auburn's Luke Greinke.

Bianucci hit .359 with eight home runs, 31 RBI and a .564 slugging percentage. He has been invited to the trials for USA Baseball's National Team.

He is the first Auburn freshman to be named to the All-SEC team since Todd Faulkner was voted the designated hitter in 1998.

Luke Greinke pitches for the Tigers.

Greinke hit .286 for the Tigers with one homer and 17 RBI and led the team in saves with six. In 17 appearances on the mound he posted a 3.76 earned run average and had no decisions.

The Tigers, 22-34, finished their season with a loss at Arkansas on Saturday and did not qualify for the SEC Baseball Tournament.
