The Jefferson High star had previously been offered by FSU, Florida, Central Florida, Alabama, Ole Miss, Georgia, South Carolina, Ohio State, Louisville, Iowa State, Iowa, Kansas, Rutgers, Notre Dame, and Mississippi State.
Garcia was named the Tampa Tribune's 2005 Player of the Year on May 17th, which made him the first non-senior to win this award in more than 20 years.
Jefferson played its rival, Plant High, in a spring jamboree and Garcia led the way for a 16-0 victory. The game only lasted two quarters. The highlight from the jamboree came when Garcia tossed a 50-yard TD to Evan Cromer.
There were over 40 scouts to attend the scrimmage.
Some of the colleges who have come by Garcia's practices this spring training are Auburn (head coach), LSU (head coach), Florida State, Florida (head coach), Northwestern, UCF, Akron, Ole Miss (head coach), South Carolina (head coach), Toledo, UAB, FAU, Nebraska, FIU, West Point, Navy, and a few Ivy League schools.
Garcia's brother graduates from Harvard on June 7th.
