Kickoff Set for Opener, Season Tickets Gone

Auburn, Ala.--The kickoff time has been set for the 2006 season Auburn University football opener vs. Washington State University when the Cougars make a Sept. 2nd visit to Auburn's Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The first-ever football meeting between the Auburn Tigers of the SEC and the Cougars of the Pac 10 Conference is set for a 6:45 p.m. CDT kickoff and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2.

Coach Tommy Tuberville's Tigers posted a 9-3 record last year and finished 7-1 overall in the SEC.

Auburn officials announced on Thursday that tickets are available to that game, but the 2006 season ticket books are soldout.

Individual tickets for the Washington State, Buffalo, Arkansas, Tulane (Homecoming) and Arkansas State games are available. Also, a mini-season ticket package including the LSU game is available.

Washington State finished the 2005 season with a 4-7 overall record and was 1-7 in conference games.

Auburn quarterback Brandon Cox and his teammates will hit the practice field in August to begin preparations for the Sept. 2nd opener.

The Cougars opened 3-0 last season, but didn't win their fourth game until the finale, a 26-22 victory over the Washington Huskies.

The game will be the first at Jordan-Hare Stadium that will feature upgrades to the east and west sides of the stadium that include new restroom facilities, concession areas and other features.

Auburn opens conference play a week after playing Washington State when the Tigers take on Mississippi State in Starkville.
