Tigers Add Another Baseball Signee

Valdosta, Ga.--Pitcher Scott Shuman, a six-foot-two right-hander from Valdosta, Ga., has signed to play baseball at Auburn for the 2007 season. Shuman was a multi-sport standout at Tift County High School.

A 23rd-round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers in the June Major League Baseball Draft, he posted an 8-2 record as a senior with three saves, a 1.72 earned run average in 65 innings with 88 strikeouts. At the plate he hit .318 with seven home runs and 29 RBI.

A first-team all-region selection in both 2005 and 2006, he was named to the team as a shortstop as a junior and as a pitcher as a senior. He was also a member of the Team Georgia squad that participated in the annual Sunbelt Tournament in 2005.

Shuman was also named to the all-region first team as a quarterback last fall. He is Auburn's 13th signee including 10 from the early period last year.

"I am excited to add Scott to our 2007 signing class," Auburn coach Tommy Slater said. "He is an athletic right-handed pitcher who has had great success on the mound, at shortstop and on the football field."
