Duckworth Named To Outland Watch List

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn senior offensive guard Tim Duckworth was honored as Monday as he was one of 54 players named to the 2006 Outland Trophy Watch List as named by the Football Writers Association of America.

The Outland Trophy has been awarded to the best offensive or defensive lineman in college football since 1946. The winner is selected by the FWAA's All-America Committee, which selects the association's 25-man team and picks three Outland Trophy finalists.

Timmy Duckworth was named second-team All-SEC in 2005 by both the Associated Press and the league's coaches after starting 10 games and posting 22 1/2 pancake blocks. Earlier this summer Duckworth was named a preseason third-team All-American by Athlon Sports and a first-team All-SEC member by Blue Ribbon and Lindy's.

The 2006 Outland Trophy announcement will be on Dec. 7 in Orlando, Fla., on the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show. The Outland Trophy presentation banquet, sponsored by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee and First Data Corporation, is set for Jan. 11, 2007, in Omaha, Neb.

Duckworth is one of three returning starters up front for the Tigers joining fellow guard Ben Grubbs and center Joe Cope. Auburn will open its season against Washington State on Sept. 2 on ESPN.
