Lester Hoping to Heal Quickly

Brad Lester discusses his groin injury and his status for Saturday's game against the Gators.

Auburn, Ala.--Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville announced on Sunday that Brad Lester may not be available for Saturday's game against Florida because of a pulled right groin, but Lester thinks he'll be back at practice on Tuesday.

"My groin just started bothering me a little bit, but as far as I know I'm still playing this Saturday," Lester says. "I heard rumors saying I wasn't playing Saturday, but as far as I know I'm going to be back at practice on Tuesday. I was just taking today (Sunday) off and recovering."

It was the same groin that kept Lester out of four games and limited in two others last season.

"It was bothering me during the week during practice, but I didn't really say anything about it. It got worse during the game," he says. "It was irritating, but I just pushed through it especially with it being a game we were struggling in, too."

After not practicing on Sunday, Lester will have two days to rest the injury because the Tigers don't practice on Monday during a normal game-week schedule.

"It's swollen and I think that's why they didn't want me to practice," Lester notes. "(Team trainer) Arnold (Gamber) told me there was no real reason to practice since we were just doing pass skel and all that. I just went out for the walk through and came back in (to the training room). I think I can practice Tuesday."
