Blackmon Likes AU Defensive Effort

Tray Blackmon again contributed at linebacker for the Tigers as they defeated Ole Miss.

Oxford, Miss.--Tray Blackmon said that his third college football game wasn't a work of art, but the redshirt freshman linebacker noted he had his moments.

Blackmon was in on five tackles, with four solos and 1 1/2 for lost yardage in Auburn's 23-17 victory at Ole Miss on Saturday. He was part of the reason that the Rebels were only able to convert 2-7 third downs and netted just 82 yards in the second half with 41 coming on the second play of the period.

"I think I played pretty good," he said. "I did a lot of good things. I have a lot of things I can improve on and I can correct a lot of mistakes. I just want to go back and look at it (on film) and get better."

Tray Blackmon gets to quarterback Brent Schaeffer and was credited with half of a sack.

Blackmon, who was credited with half a sack, said, "The best thing I did was make some good tackles. I would love to get better at just seeing stuff and recognizing different stuff out there and really just work on my techniques."

Commenting on the defense as a whole, Blackmon said, "I think we played pretty good. We had a couple of minor mistakes here and there. We had a couple of bumps in the road that we can't go back and fix now, but as long as we play hard and give it all we have got, everything will take care of itself."

Blackmon, who made his Auburn debut in the Florida game, added, "I definitely feel more comfortable out there," he said. "Every game I feel a lot more confident, too."
