Warhawks To Take on Tigers Thursday Night

Auburn, Ala.--Jeff Lebo's Tigers will be looking for their sixth win of the basketball season on Thursday night as 3-4 Louisiana-Monroe visits Beard-Eaves Memorial Coliseum.

Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. vs. an opponent that Lebo says will test his Tigers. "They are a very athletic team and they played very well against Alabama (Tuesday). They are good one-on-one players and good in transition off the bounce getting to the rim. We have had trouble against teams that have good, quick guards who can put it on the floor and create by themselves playing one-on-one."

The Warhawks are led by 5-11, 165 sophomore guard Tony Hooper, who is averaging 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. He scored 19 in his last out vs. Alabama. Jonas Brown, a 6-3, 180 junior guard, is averaging 12.4 points and 3.9 assists. He scored 17 vs. Alabama.

Louisiana-Monroe starts three guards and is not a big team. Forward Nathaniel Roche is a 6-8, 230 freshman who averages 3.2 points and 2.3 rebounds and 6-7, 220 sophomore forward Afam Nweke averages 4.0 points and 7.6 rebounds. The other starter, 6-2, 215 junior Lance Brasher, is averaging 9.9 points and 5.3 rebounds.

Korvotney Barber leads Auburn in scoring at 14.9 points per game and the sophomore is the top rebound at 9.0 per contest.

Auburn comes into the contest following a 92-87 overtime win over Nicholls State on Tuesday. Louisiana-Monroe fell 75-61 that same night at Alabama after leading the Tide by five points in the second half.

Thursday night's game will be the fourth in the past week for the Tigers and seventh in the past two weeks. "We need practice time right now," Lebo says. "It is hard when you have to try to correct quickly the mistakes you made in the game and also prepare in one day. We have had to do that in this stretch. With a young team you need more teaching time there."
