Tigers Cotton Bowl Bound

A report on where the football Tigers will be heading for the holidays.

Auburn, Ala.--Sunday the Tigers got the official word that they will be heading to Dallas to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Cotton Bowl. Nebraska lost to Oklahoma 21-7 Saturday in the Big 12 Championship Game and will enter the New Year's Day contest at 9-4 overall while Auburn is 10-2.

The Tigers have made one appearance in the Cotton Bowl. They lost 36-16 to Texas A&M on Jan. 1, 1986. Auburn has played Nebraska three times and is 0-3. One of those appearances was in a bowl game. On Jan. 1, 1964 the Cornhuskers defeated AU 13-7 in the Orange Bowl.

Auburn's all-time record in bowl games is 17-13-2. This year's bowl trip will be the sixth straight for the Tigers. Tuberville's Auburn teams are 3-3 in bowl appearances.
