Bennett to Skip Bowl, Return for '07 Season

A report on Auburn tight end Cole Bennett is featured.

Auburn, Ala.--Senior tight end Cole Bennett, who suffered a broken bone in his foot in Auburn's victory over LSU, will miss the Cotton Bowl game but will return for the 2007 season.

Coach Tommy Tuberville made that comment on Sunday evening in a teleconference announcing that the Tigers will play the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Dallas on New Year's Day.

Bennett, who was a starter in the first three games, was injured in the first half of the victory over LSU. Already in graduate school, Bennett hoped to return in time for Auburn's last four games, but was not medically cleared to play.

"Cole is a big part of our success offensively," Tuberville says. "He is one of our best run blockers if not our best," the coach adds.
