SEC Coaches Honor Three Auburn Freshmen

A trio of Tigers made the Southeastern Conference All-Freshman Football Team.

Auburn, Ala.--Three members of the Auburn defense, including a pair of starters, have been named to the SEC All-Freshman Football Team selected by the league's coaches.

Tackle Sen'Derrick Marks and safety Aairon Savage are joined on the all-star team by defensive back Jerraud Powers, who played in all 12 games as a reserve and on special teams.

Jerraud Powers played multiple positions for the Tigers.

All three players are redshirt freshmen for Coach Tommy Tuberville's team that will play Nebraska on Jan. 1 at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas.

Savage, who moved from cornerback to safety in the offseason, finished third on the team in tackles with 48. He finished the regular season with one interception, a forced fumble, two sacks and three tackles for lost yardage. He was named SEC Freshman of the Week for his play at Ole Miss.

Aairon Savage steadily improved throughout the season.

Marks finished the regular season with 33 tackles including 8 1/2 for lost yardage with 3 1/2 sacks.

Powers played cornerback, safety and worked in the secondary in Auburn's nickel and dime pass coverage packages. He has 25 tackles, including one for a loss, and three pass deflections.

The Tigers are currently taking final exams and will begin on the field bowl preparations Dec. 14th.
