Tigers Making Road Trip to Southern Miss

The Auburn basketball Tigers are looking for their 11th victory.

Auburn, Ala.--Jeff Lebo's Auburn basketball team will play its first true road game of the season as the Tigers take on the Golden Eagles of Southern Mississippi on Tuesday evening in Hattiesburg.

Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CST in Auburn's final contest before beginning Southeastern Conference play.

Southern Miss, which is 9-2, is led in scoring by 6-2 freshman guard Jeremy Wise, who is averaging 16 points per game.

Lebo's Tigers, who are 10-4, feature five players scoring in double figures with a 15.0 average by junior forward Quan Prowell as the top number. Josh Dollard, a sophomore forward, is the top rebounder with 8.3 per contest.

Auburn leads the series 14-1 and has won the last 12 meetings with Southern Miss.

"They are a very physical and tough Southern Miss team that is off to a good start," Lebo says. "I've been down there before when I was at East Tennessee State and it is a tough place to play. We will see what we are made of down there. We have some more road games coming up so it will be a good test for our kids."

Auburn is coming into the contest off a 69-53 victory over Charleston Southern. Southern Miss won its last outing, 58-41, vs. visiting McNeese State.

Coach Larry Eustachy is relying on a youthful lineup with three freshmen starters and two sophomores. The group is outscoring opponents by 17.7 points per outing and out-rebounding opponents by a margin of 12.1.
