Highly Ranked QB Signs with Tigers

Auburn signs one of the nation's top quarterback prospects.

Fort Smith, Ark.--Scout.com five-star quarterback Kodi Burns, possibly the most hyped player in this year's recruiting class for the Tigers, has signed a scholarship and faxed his signature to become a student/athlete at Auburn University. He is rated as the fifth-best QB prospect in the country.

Burns (6-2, 205) was a three-year starting quarterback for coach Darrell Henry and Northside High School in Fort Smith, Ark., where he accounted for more than 8,700 yards passing and rushing as a dual-threat quarterback. Henry, who installed a shotgun one-back offense to suit Burns, compares the young talent to the likes of Jason Campbell and Vince Young.

Burns committed to Auburn on Nov. 9 just before his official visit to the school. As a rare signee from the state of Arkansas, Burns chose Auburn over the Razorbacks and many other schools around the country. Lee Ziemba of Rogers and Adam Herring of Springdale are also prospects from the state of Arkansas expected to ink their signature with the Tigers on signing day.

Burns is the only quarterback prospect in this year's class expected to join senior Brandon Cox, junior Blake Field and redshirt freshmen Neil Caudle and Steven Ensminger for the 2007 season.
