Bluechip Tailback Signs With Tigers

Tailback University has landed another blue-chip runner.

Lynn Haven, Fla.--Joining a highly rated group of offensive linemen signing with Auburn on Wednesday, Tommy Tuberville and his staff landed one of the nation's top running backs in Enrique Davis of Mosley High School in Lynn Haven, Fla.

The Tigers lose star tailback Kenny Irons to the NFL, but Davis along with Brad Lester, Benjamin Tate and redshirt freshman Mario Fannin will compete to be Irons' replacement. At 6-1 and 215 pounds Davis runs in the 4.5 range in the 40-yard dash and is a player who brings both size and speed to the position.

Davis is rated as a four-star player, but in a class full of talented running backs he is rated the 17th player at his position in the country by Scout.com. He committed to Auburn on an unofficial visit to the Plains the same weekend the Tigers beat the eventual national champion Florida Gators 27-17 in mid-October. Davis was one of 17 prospects to take his official visit to Auburn on Jan. 12 and he also took an official to Florida State the next weekend, but upheld his commitment to the Tigers.

He signed with Auburn on Wednesday and had offers from the Seminoles, Alabama, Georgia, LSU and many others.
