Tigers Fill Need at Receiver

Wide receiver Chris Slaughter has re-signed with Auburn out of prep school.

Chatham, Va.--The Auburn coaching staff appears to have filled an immediate need with the signing of Scout.com four-star receiver Chris Slaughter. The 6-3 185-pound wideout played his prep days at Peach County High School in Fort Valley, Ga., and signed with Auburn last February, but was not academically eligible.

After spending a year at Hargrave Military Academy Slaughter has re-signed with the Tigers and could have an immediate impact when he arrives at Auburn with leading receiver Courtney Taylor departing. He took his official visit to Auburn on Nov. 11 after officially re-committing on Aug. 15.

As a player with the speed to stretch the field vertically whose greatest asset is his hands according to Hargrave head coach Robert Prunty, Slaughter has the potential to develop into difference maker in Al Borges West Coast offense. Huntsville High's Quindarius Carr is the only other receiver signing with the Tigers this February.

Slaughter had 23 touchdown receptions and 1,350 yards receiving as a senior at Peach County and was a star at Hargrave in 2006 with 43 catches for 930 yards and eight scores.
