Signee Is Greene But Good, Coach Says

Brentwood senior A.J. Greene has signed to play for the Auburn Tigers.

Brentwood, Tenn.--With former AU signees King Dunlap and Mike Berry already on the Auburn roster, the Tigers landed another Brentwood Academy player with the signing of tall and athletic defensive end A.J. Greene on Wednesday.

The 6-6, 250-pounded flew under the radar for much of the recruiting season because of his limited amount of football action. However, after a strong senior season that concluded in a state championship Greene was upped to a four-star prospect by Scout.com.

Greene committed to Auburn on Nov. 29 and chose the Tigers over Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Louisville and Marshall. Still a very raw player with a huge frame, he fits the mold of what defensive coordinator Will Muschamp is looking for in a defensive end--size and athleticism. He took his official visit to Auburn on Jan. 12, which was his only official to take to any school.

Greene was an All-State player as a senior and may have a chance for early playing time after the departure of Marquis Gunn and Christopher Browder.

His coach, Carlton Flatt, says that Auburn is getting a very interesting prospect. "He has a tremendous amount of potential," the veteran coach says. "He has lots of athletic ability, great size and he is only going to get better as a college player at Auburn."
