It was a two-team race for Williams' signature early in the recruiting race between Auburn and Alabama. However, after committing to Auburn and the Tide's 6-7 season and coaching change, Alabama wasn't in the top three for the in-state prospect.
Williams took his official visit to Auburn on Jan. 12 and took another to Clemson on Jan. 26. He also had offers from WVU FSU, South Carolina and others.
Ryan Williams is considered one of the top prospects in Alabama this year.
After being a standout at the Scout.com junior combine in San Antonio and another Scout.com combine in Tuscaloosa, Williams was rated as a four-star prospect and the 32nd rated cornerback prospect in the country.
Williams is a candidate for early playing time for the Tigers with Will Muschamp using numerous cornerbacks in his defensive schemes.
