Auburn Spring Football Notes

Notes from Auburn spring football practices are featured.

Auburn, Ala.--Notes from Thursday's Auburn football practice, which is number three of the spring and the first in full pads:

*Gabe McKenzie again had several nice catches, which is becoming a theme of spring workouts. Offensive coordinator Al Borges says the tight end position is probably the team's best one on offense right now.

*Redshirt freshman defensive end Zach Clayton intercepted a pass in the 11 on 11 work and was impressive in the one on one drills.

*Mario Fannin looked very quick and aggressive running the football at tailback spot. Ben Tate stood out with several nice runs inside and outside. Tristan Davis showed his speed as he got outside of tackle several times for nice runs.

*Cornerback Walter McFadden looks like he is playing his best football since he got to AU.

*Tommy Tuberville had to leave practice early because he is still ill, but he returned for the end of the session on a wet, windy day with a tornado watch here in Auburn. Later today the coaching staff will welcome hundreds of high school coaches visiting for the annual coaching clinic. A dozen or so arrived early and watched practice today.

*Redshirt freshman defensive end Michael Goggans, the converted tight end, had a good day in one on one drills.

*Linebacker Patrick Trahan made an interception in the 11 on 11 work as he continues his trend of making big plays when he gets an opportunity to play.
