Prowell Off To Strong Start in China

An update on Quan Prowell and Rasheem Barrett's journey to China on team Reach USA is featured.

AUBURN---Auburn's Quan Prowell totaled game-highs of 21 points and 13 rebounds while Rasheem Barrett added 12 points to lead Reach USA to a 74-60 victory over the Xia Jing Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Top Division Friday to open its eight-game tour of China. Prowell then added 11 points and Barrett 10 points in Reach USA's 91-62 win over the same Xia Jing team.

The first game was played after a 90-minute flight and a five-hour bus ride that included a 45-minute breakdown of the bus. The team finally arrived at the hotel at 6 pm prior to the 8 pm game.

In the opener, Prowell went 9-of-14 from the field, 0-of-3 from 3-point range and 3-of-5 from the foul line. Nine of his 13 rebounds were on the defensive glass, and he totaled three steals and a block. Barrett went 5-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-4 from 3-point range and had two assists.

In the second game, Prowell had 11 points, five rebounds and a steal while shooting 4-of-5 from the field and 3-of-5 from the free throw line. Barrett had 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal while going 3-of-11 from the field, 1-of-4 from 3-point range and 3-of-3 from the foul line.

Other members of the Reach USA team are Alabama's Mikhail Torrence and Demetrius Jemison, LSU's Garrett Temple, Mississippi State's Brian Johnson, Lipscomb's Eddie Ard and Texas-Pan American's Paul Stoll.
