Tennis Tigers End Season in NCAA Play

Athens, Ga.--The 2006-2007 season for the Auburn Tigers came to an end on Thursday at the NCAA Women's Tennis Championships.

Fani Chifchieva was eliminated in the second round of singles at the Dan Magill Tennis Center while the Auburn doubles team of sophomore Alex Haney and freshman Melissa Koning lost in the opening round.

Chifchieva, a freshman, fell in three sets to Csilla Borsanyi of Florida. The Auburn player took a 6-2 win in the first set, but lost 7-5, 6-3. She finishes her season with an 18-8 singles record.

Koning and Haney drew the No. 2 seeded team, Sara Anundsen and Jenna Long of North Carolina. The Tar Heels took a straight set win, 6-4, 6-3. The Tiger team ends their season with a 14-8 doubles record.
