Auburn Tiger Football Tidbits, June 14

Updates on Auburn University football are featured.

*Despite the coaching staff's post-spring training depth chart that shows Sen'Derrick Marks moving to defensive end, don't be surprised if the redshirt sophomore plays just as much, if not more, at defensive tackle this season.

*On the subject of defensive linemen, redshirt freshman Mike Blanc has steadily added size since signing with the Tigers out of Deerfield Beach High in Florida in the 2006 class. Blanc, who was 265 pounds last year, is up to 293 pounds and says that should be a good weight for him and he doesn't need to get any larger.

*If he can avoid injuries, which was a problem for him last season, look for Jonathan Wilhite to be significantly more productive for the Tigers than he was last season. In the offseason workouts it is obvious that the cornerback is much quicker than he was last fall and with another offseason of Yoxercise under his belt he will be stronger, too.

*One of the most interesting prospects at Auburn's football camp over the weekend will just be a junior this season. Linebacker Tana Patrick, who is 6-2 1/2, 224 pounds, from North Jackson High School in Stevenson, Ala., has quick feet and is very athletic.

Patrick showed excellent pass coverage skills and is a strong competitor. His high school coach, former AU player Mark Rose, says that as a sophomore Patrick was playing at a level comparable to the best players he has ever coached. Patrick is also a very good tight end, Rose notes.
