More Pan Am Gold for the Tigers

Auburn athletes are bringing home a large number of gold medals from Brazil.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil--Another Auburn University athlete won a gold medal at the Pan American Games as sprinter Tracy Ann Rowe ran a leg on the winning 4x100 relay team.

Rowe, who will be a senior for Coach Ralph Spry's Tigers this coming season, ran the second leg for Jamaica in the event. Her team won in a time of 43.58 while the United States team ran a 43.62 to claim the silver medal.

Current or former Auburn athletes won 10 gold medals in the competition in Brazil. Auburn swimmers brought home eight of the golds.

In track and field, former Tiger Maurice Smith won a gold in the decathlon and Donald Thomas, who won the 2007 indoor NCAA high jump championship, earned a silver medal in Brazil. Thomas was a senior this past season for the AU's men's team.
