Wideout Hearing From AU, Others

A football recruiting update features wide receiver Marcus Rucker.

Memphis, Tenn.--Wide receivers with good height and athletic ability normally have scholarship offers and that is the case with Whitehaven High School senior Marcus Rucker.

So far the offers have come Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Indiana, but he is hearing from a wider range of programs. One of the colleges that has the 6-4, 170-pounder on the radar screen is Auburn.

"Memphis, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn and LSU are writing the most," says Rucker, who notes that he doesn't have an offer from Tommy Tuberville's Tigers yet.

A player who was a standout at the Scout.com Elite 150 camp in Atlanta in June, Rucker notes he hasn't made many trips this summer. "I've really just been in the weight room trying to get big, staying in shape, and trying to help my team get some victories," he says.

I've been to Memphis and Ole Miss camps, but I can't attend any more because I hurt my knee at the Ole Miss camp," he adds.

Marcus Rucker is shown at the Hoover passing competition.

Rucker was able to play at last week's seven-on-seven passing camp at Hoover, Ala., High and was one of the standouts there.

His focus has now turned to his senior football season. He will try to improve on last season when he caught 35 passes for 660 yards and 10 touchdowns. "I've been working on my jump ball because I'll be playing against some short defensive backs," he says. "I've also been working on executing my routes."
