*Cox had one of the more unusual plays of the scrimmage when a ball slipped out of his hands on a pass attempt on the hot and muggy day that produced a lot of sweating.

*Junior Blake Field was the second quarterback to see action followed by redshirt freshman Neil Caudle, true freshman Kodi Burns and redshirt freshman Steven Ensminger was the last to get into the scrimmage. Ensminger didn't scrimmage until the last half of the session.

*Field hooked up with James Swinton on a nice pass play that covered approximately 35 yards on his first possession.

*New arrival Chris Slaughter played in the scrimmage and caught a pass early in the scrimmage.

*Kodi Burns showed quick feet, avoiding several would-be sacks.

*Defensive end Antoine Carter made several nice plays in his first college scrimmage.

*Jermarcus Ricks, a backup noseguard, did not scrimmage. He is recovering from a hamstring problem.

*Leon Hart and Mike Berry did not play at center. Mike "Action Jackson" Timmerman, a walk-on, worked as the No. 3 center.

*Terrell Zachery had a rough scrimmage. He dropped multiple passes including one in the end zone from Kodi Burns that was deflected into the arms of safety Lorenzo Ferguson.

*Tommy Tuberville says without looking at the practice video he believes the Tigers made a lot of mental mistakes in scrimmage one.

*Freshmen Kodi Burns and Quindarius Carr hooked up on a long pass play.

*Tuberville said he thought the secondary broke on the ball well and tackled well at the scrimmage. He singled out Jerraud Powers for playing well at cornerback.
