Monday Night AU Football Practice Notes

News and notes are featured on the Auburn University football Tigers.

*Defensive linemen Michael Goggans and Darrell Roseman did well in the one-on-one lineman drills. Goggans says he feels like he is getting back into the swing of things after missing practice time to attend his grandfather's funeral.

*The first team offensive line on Monday night featured Ryan Pugh at center, Mike Berry at right guard, Lee Ziemba at right tackle, Tyronne Green at left guard and King Dunlap at left tackle.

*Wes Byrum, the freshman field goal kicker, says he has more leg strength this week because he has spent less time on his punting. He says the combination of kicking off, kicking field goals and punting was leaving him leg weary.

*Cornerback Jonathan Wilhite had a good performance with his pass coverage in the 11 on 11 drills.

Andrew McCain blocks Michael Goggans and Gabe McKenzie blocks Brent Slusher.

*True freshman wide receiver Chris Slaughter is coming on strong despite his late start while waiting on approval from the NCAA Clearinghouse. He made an impressive one-handed catch in one-on-ones and has consistently caught passes thrown in his vicinity.

*Wide receiver Montez Billings has not been cleared to practice as he tries to recover from a hamstring problem.

*Redshirt sophomore cornerback Jerraud Powers seems to be in the right place at the right time and continues to blanket the receivers in one on one and team drills. The sophomore corner picked off a pass in team drills that bounced off one of Robert Dunn's shoes. Dunn also had a good practice, continuing a theme that began in summer voluntary workouts.
