Auburn Scrimmage Two, Notes Part 1

News and notes from Auburn second preseason football scrimmage are featured.

*Ryan Shoemaker had a good night, averaging around 45 yards per punt.

*Robert Dunn, who was working on the punt return team, dropped two punts. Mario Fannin and Chris Slaughter did not have that problem.

*Dunn had a positive highlight though, making a touchdown catch of around 15 yards from Brandon Cox. Cox praised Dunn as a receiver, saying he thought the junior played well.

*Brad Lester had an impressive run of approximately 40 yards for a touchdown around end. Tommy Tuberville was asked about his status and said the junior tailback is fine and competing to be the opening night start.

*Chris Slaughter had another good night catching the football. The freshman worked with the ones, twos and threes.

*The kickoffs were strong. Wes Byrum looks like he is good shape to be number one.

*Overall, the offense played better in scrimmage two than scrimmage one. Cox rated it about even. Tuberville said the offense was significantly better than week one.

*The head coach said he was pleased with improved offensive execution that included few penalties.

*The offensive line had a much better scrimmage two than scrimmage one. Antwoin Daniels opened the scrimmage as the No. 1 right tackle, but shared playing time with Lee Ziemba.
