Auburn Scrimmage Two, Notes Part 2

More notes and news from Auburn's second major preseason football scrimmage.

*Brandon Cox, who was in for only three series, was sharp passing the football in scrimmage two. He even caught a pass on a halfback toss from Mario Fannin. However, Cox was not supposed to be the receiver and everyone was yelling at the defense not to hit Cox who said Mario's pass was right on the numbers. Cox escaped the play without mishap.

*Fannin had one of the most impressive runs when he plowed over defensive back Zach Gilbert. It was a bit similar to Ronnie Brown's run in the victory at Tennessee in 2004. Tommy Tuberville said all of the running backs had a good night. *Running back Carl Stewart is still recovering from a hamstring and won't be back for about a week, Tuberville says.

*Wide receiver Tim Hawthorne did not have a good night catching the football with several drops on a night with some rain.

*Steven Ensminger had a much better second scrimmage than the one last week, especially passing the ball.

*Quarterback Kodi Burns did not have a good night passing the football.

*Junior Blake Field looked solid running the number two offense.

*The Tigers kicked about 15 field goals with the only miss from Zach Kutch. Wes Byrum looks like he will be the man to beat for that job.
