Auburn Scrimmage Two Notes, Part 3

Additional news and notes from Auburn's second major scrimmage of the preseason are featured.

*One of the state's top recruits, linebacker Jerrell Harris, was at the scrimmage. Harris is a life-long friend of Auburn freshman walk-on Jeremy Flowers, a cornerback. Harris is up to 220 pounds.

*The first team offensive line didn't dominate the defensive front, but did a much better job of holding its own in scrimmage two vs. scrimmage one.

*One of the negatives in the scrimmage was that tailbacks Mario Fannin and Ben Tate each had a fumble, something that drives running backs coach Eddie Gran crazy.

*Tommy Tuberville had praise for the tackling of the outside linebackers and the cornerbacks as a group. The play of the cornerbacks has been one of the overall highlights of preseason.

*The head coach also had praise for true freshman wideout Chris Slaughter, who is giving the coaches plenty of reasons to consider trying to work him into the playing rotation despite how skinny he is and his late start.

*The Tigers worked on getting into and out of the huddle after TV timeouts. This year offenses have 15 seconds to do that instead of 25 seconds.
