Running back Mario Fannin has battled through a sore groin for the last week or so. He did not practice on Tuesday just to let it rest and heal. The redshirt freshman is in the battle for a starting spot at tailback.
Tackle King Dunlap had some cramps, but nothing serious. He is Auburn's only full-time returning starter on the offensive line.
Tight end Bailey Woods (left) and redshirt sophomore Gabe McKenzie (right) are shown during Tuesday's practice. Woods is likely to redshirt this fall as a true freshman.
Guard Byron Isom bruised his knee in Friday's scrimmage, but was back at practice on Tuesday. Offensive line coach Hugh Nall notes he has been pleased with what he has seen in preseason from the redshirt freshman.
Receiver Montez Billings has missed most of the August workouts with a pulled hamstring. He made his return to action on Tuesday. Offensive coordinator Al Borges notes he is hoping that the redshirt sophomore can step up and have a big season.
Tristan Davis got a good report from Dr. James Andrews on his toe. They're hoping to remove the pin in about a week. The time-line for his return is still uncertain, but probably somewhere around late September. Davis said on Tuesday that he is shooting to return for game three, but says that is probably wishful thinking. He says that game four is more likely.
