Wednesday Auburn Practice Notes

News and notes from Auburn's football practice are featured.

Notes from Wednesday's practice that finished up under the lights:

*Wide receiver Tim Hawthorne returned to practice after suffering an ankle sprain over the weekend. Hawthorne says he hopes to be full speed by opening night. Hawthorne, a redshirt freshman, is trying to break into the playing rotation at one of the three wide receiver spots.

*Leon Hart, the senior guard, missed practice again, but could be back in the next couple of days.

*Tailback Mario Fannin (groin pull) participated in about half the practice.

*WR Montez Billings (hamstring) practiced for about half of the session.

*RB Carl Stewart returned to practice for limited work. The senior is not certain to play in the opener as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

*Coach tommy Tuberville said he was very pleased with how Brandon Cox and Blake Field ran the offense. The Tigers had an approximately 80-play situational-type scrimmage at full speed, but no tackling of the running backs. Kodi Burns got some snaps, too, but Steven Ensminger did not.

*The Tigers will have a quick turnaround with their next practice on Thursday morning.
