"I'm a Tiger now," Baker said. "I committed. First I told Coach Gran and then we went and told Coach Tubs (Tommy Tuberville) and I'm a Tiger now. At first he (Gran) was like, ‘Are you 100 percent?' and I said, ‘Yes, coach. This is what I want to do.' Then he was happy and he told me he was the happiest man in the world."
Baker's first visit to Auburn was for a summer camp and the Tigers have been near the top of the list ever since.
"I always liked Auburn and I've been thinking about committing to Auburn," he explained. "Three weeks ago I told my high school head coach that I was thinking about doing it, but I wanted to make sure it was the right thing. So I told him if I come up on my visit and have a good time them I'm going to do it.
"Everything went good," Baker continued. "I had a chance to hang with the players and I was with Zac Etheridge for the weekend. I got to see Tiger Walk and that was really exciting. I watched them come through and I had a good time. Yesterday (Sunday) I did academics. I went to the school and they showed me all of the academics and stuff."
The 5-11, 175-pound prospect rushed for 1,010 yards and 14 touchdowns last season for Archbishop Carroll High School in Miami, Fla. However, as a standout at cornerback during Auburn's senior camp, he is expected to play on the defensive side of the ball in college. Baker said he like what he saw from Will Muschamp's defense during the 23-13 victory over Kansas State.
"They were real aggressive, real fast and that's what I like," he said.
