Fortner's Tigers Cruise to 11th Victory

Auburn dominated from start to finish with a women's basketball win on the road in Texas.

Huntsville, Tex.--The 16th-ranked Auburn Tigers coasted to an 80-36 women's basketball victory on Wednesday night over Sam Houston State.

Coach Nell Fortner's Tigers wrapped up a three-game Texas road trip and their pre-Christmas schedule with an 11-1 record. The Bearkats fell to 1-10 with the loss.

Junior DeWanna Bonner led the Tigers with 24 points in 21 minutes of action. The 6-4 guard hit 10-12 field goals. Freshman guard Alli Smalley scored 12 for Auburn.

The Tigers dominated the boards with a 44-23 rebound margin while holding the home team to 24.1 percent shooting from the field. Auburn hit 58.2 percent of its shots as Fortner cleared her bench as 11 Tigers scored points.

Auburn led 34-16 at halftime in the first women's basketball game between the Tigers and Bearkats. The Tigers made a 16-4 run early in the contest to take control of the contest.
